Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

Mix the wet ingredients. In a large bowl, beat the sugar and butter with a stand or hand mixer.

Incorporate the yogurt, egg, and vanilla into the bowl.

Part 2 of 3: Baking the Doughnuts

Fill a doughnut pan. Add the batter to the cavities of the pan, about 1/2 full.

Part 3 of 3: Making and Applying the Frosting

Combine the frosting ingredients together (except the walnuts). In a small bowl, use a metal wire whisk to whip everything thoroughly until you achieve a smooth mixture.

Dip the doughnuts into the frosting.

Garnish the doughnuts. Before the frosting sets, sprinkle some chopped walnuts around.
